Results are in for the May 7 primary elections for positions on the Colville Business Council.

The CBC is the governing body of the Colville Tribes with 14 positions total for the council, and seven up for re-election each year.

Poll votes in the current primary were certified May 9; absentee ballots were certified May 12.

There are four positions each in the Inchelium, Nespelem, and Omak districts, and two positions in the Keller district.

Four of the races this year went through the primary process to narrow them down to two candidates each. 

In the race for Nespelem District Position #1, incumbent and current chairman Andy Joseph Jr received 251 votes to Corby Turner’s 136. Eliminated from the race, Lily “Teen” Stanger received 115.

In the race for Inchelium Position #2, incumbent Richard A. Swan Sr received 84 votes, and Cody Peone received 123.

Eliminated from that race are Lee Adolph, who received 70 votes, and Doug Seymore, who received 53. 

In the race for Omak District Position #1, incumbent Virgil Marchand received 201 votes, Angela Davis received 119. Eliminated from the race, Shirley K. Charley received 68. 

And in the race for Omak Position #2, incumbent Dustin Best received 178 votes to Preston Boyd’s 124. Michael E. Marchand, received 97.

Additional races that didn’t require a primary because they already had only two candidates are for Nespelem District Position #2 between incumbent Shar Zacherle and former chairman Rodney Cawston; Inchelium District Position #1 between incumbent Marvin Kheel and Cindy Marchand; and Keller District Position #1 between incumbent Joseph L. Somday and Patrick Tonasket.

The general election will take place on June 18 for poll site voting, certified on June 21. Absentee votes will be certified June 23.
