County to update Community Wildfire Protection Plan

Okanogan County is starting the process to update its Community Wildfire Protection Plan, which may address issues such as wildfire response, hazard mitigation, community preparedness, or structure protection.

Okanogan County Emergency Management would like to engage the public and other governmental agencies in the process, it said in an emailed announcement Tuesday.

The agency will hold the “first of many meetings” Tuesday, May 17, at 6 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Hearing Room, at 123 5th Ave. North in Okanogan.

It will be an in-person meeting only. 

The agenda includes discussion on a CWPP and on a Multi-hazard Mitigation Plan, wildfire risk, wildland urban interface; reviewing “mitigation action items, including already identified wildfire projects and discussing additional projects and discussion of plans and projects.

The meeting is expected to end at 8 p.m.
