Grand Coulee Police

4/26 - A vehicle hit the base of a light post near the Riley Point overlook just below Grand Coulee Dam. The driver stated she was distracted while looking at the dam when the accident occurred.

4/29 - Police located a vehicle stolen out of Nespelem parked at the casino and observed a puppy in the passenger seat. Police reviewed security footage at the casino and identified a man who had driven it there. Tribal police assisted in confronting the man at a slot machine. He was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle, for which he said he had traded his vehicle with another man. A woman was allowed to get her dog out of the car.

4/30 - A man from Reardan may face disorderly conduct charges after allegedly almost causing a fight with another man golfing with a group at the Banks Lake Golf Course.

- Boys playing video games during a sleepover on Hill Avenue reportedly had an argument that led to a BB gun being pulled out. The boy who called police explained that police weren’t needed, but police took the BB gun, which appeared unloaded and for which there was no ammunition. 

5/1 - Police took a loose brown dog from Banks Avenue to a pound in Moses Lake. The dog was said to have nappy hair and long, dirty nails. Another loose dog in the same area was skittish and officers didn’t take control of it.

- Police will try to identify a suspect from security footage that shows a person taking things from Spokane Boulevard vehicles, including marijuana, a Discover Pass, and an owner’s manual, with an estimated total value of $120. The marijuana was said to be the most valuable of the items.

- Tools taken from a Main Street apartment are suspected to have been taken from a former resident who hadn’t paid his rent. Entry into the apartment was gained through a window. The tools were the property of the former resident, but the owner said they were his now due to the former resident not paying rent.

5/2 - Police assisted Coulee Dam and tribal police with a man resisting arrest on SR-155 north of Coulee Dam.

5/3 - A skinny guy in work clothes was reportedly knocking on doors in the Sunset Drive and Diamond Street area, asking if people needed roofing work done.

- A woman on Roosevelt Drive was upset about a neighbor’s dog being tethered up, which police told her wasn’t against the law. She asked how to make Grand Coulee a better town, and was advised by police to “mind her own business,” according to the police report. 

- A city employee parked a rented street sweeper in an alley near Electric City Hall and swore he’d put the parking brake on. However, the vehicle rolled down the alley and struck a gas tank housing. The employee said it was possible someone tried to steal the vehicle, then left before it struck anything. There is $5,000 in estimated damage to the vehicle.

- A man said to be swinging at cars on Coulee Boulevard explained he was using the stick to keep his balance due to bad knees. 

5/4 - Police responded to a report of a possible drug overdose at the Hill Avenue apartments where a woman was sleeping in a van’s passenger seat. Police woke her up, and she didn’t give them much information before going into an apartment.

- A woman on Seaton Avenue reported a broken window. She turned in two lead balls like those used with slingshots. She also said her gate lock had been cut a couple weeks prior, and she expressed a concern about rising incidence of crime.

- A Spokane Way man reported about $740 worth of fraudulent charges made to Amazon with his bank information between November and March. He said he was working with his bank on the matter.

Coulee Dam Police

5/2 - Police couldn’t locate a vehicle said to have been traveling at about 50 miles per hour and up to no good in the area of River Drive and Roosevelt Way.

- An officer assisted tribal police with an uncooperative man being arrested near Highway Tire. The officer used three knee kicks to the man to subdue him after he was rising from the ground with three officers attempting to subdue him. The man was arrested and taken away by tribal police.

5/4 - A Lake Roosevelt student was taken to Okanogan County Juvenile Detention charged with second-degree assault following an incident reportedly caught on school security footage of him pushing another student who fell to the ground, injuring his wrist.
