Grand Coulee enters digital age with new website

The city of Grand Coulee has launched a new website that has some handy info for residents.

The website, which went live in January, is a little hard to find on Google, but is at http://www.gccitywa.org.

There, visitors to the site can find meeting agendas, look things up in the city’s code, find the email addresses for the mayor and council members, and find handy forms such as building permits, demolition permits, and dog license applications.

Kristine Thiesfeld, who is the clerk for the Grand Coulee Police Department, put the website together using WordPress, an opensource platform for building websites.

“I just felt like we needed to get with the times and volunteered to do it,” she told The Star, adding that she is not a web designer and that someone else can take on the website to make it look more professional if the city would like.

At a meeting prior to the site going live, Grand Coulee council members expressed that the site looked good.

Coulee Dam and Electric City have similar websites at http://townofcouleedam.org/ and https://www.electriccity.us/ respectively.

The cities of Elmer City and Nespelem do not have websites.
