There is no school today, March 16, for Lake Roosevelt students due to a possible threat to the school, and tomorrow will be a distance-learning day.

School is anticipated to resume in person on Friday.

A 6:55 a.m. post on Lake Roosevelt's Facebook page from LR's administration said that "this morning we were informed of a possible threat to the school. We are working with law enforcement and will conduct a full investigation. We are cancelling school today out of an abundance of caution. We will keep you informed with as much information as we can as we proceed through this situation."

An update at 11 a.m. reads: "We are continuing to work with law enforcement to investigate the situation. At this time we have no new information. We will make a determination on holding school tomorrow by 2:00pm today."

"If you have any information that can assist us in this investigation," the update continues, "please contact the school district office at 633-2143 or Coulee Dam [police department] at 633-1234. If you would like to submit information anonymously you can complete this form https://forms.gle/ggM8XhTupRJrkhiH7 "

4:20 p.m. update

An update from the school shared around 2 p.m. said that school tomorrow will be held via distant learning, and said that whatever potential threat towards the school came from Snap Chat, a social media platform, with no further information as of yet.

"First, I want to thank my administration for their immediate response to the potential Snap Chat threats we learned about early this morning," the update from Superintendent Paul Turner reads. "We have been working with authorities throughout the day investigating these threats.

To allow for continued investigation and safety, tomorrow Thursday March 17th will be a distance learning day for students. Please check Google Classroom or Dojo for assignments which will be posted by 10 a.m. tomorrow. If you are unable to connect, opportunity for makeup work will be available upon return to in-person school. At this point, we plan to have in-person school on Friday."
