Grand Coulee

Police

2/28 - Police responded to A Street where a man and woman reported seeing a woman throw items out of a pickup, including a dog, and drive off. The officer took the small chihuahua-type dog to the vet to scan for a chip, but there wasn’t one. The officer found a couple options for places that would take care of the dog, but the owner came in looking for it. The owner described the dog and explained that he had let the dog outside and when he came back for it, it had run off. The man lived close to where the dog was found, and police determined it to be his and not to have been tossed outside of a truck.

3/1 - A man on Grand Coulee Avenue was charged with malicious mischief after allegedly slashing a tire, which the owner and his girlfriend said they had witnessed. The two men have a history of altercations.

- Police explained the procedures for a Dill Avenue woman to evict a man from an RV on her property.

3/2 - Police responded to Cardinal Road on a report of a woman screaming. Police spoke to someone who had been outside in the area but said they hadn’t heard anything.

3/3 - A Hill Avenue apartment manager thought a man was banned from the property, and was concerned about drug use. Police told the manager that the man wasn’t shown as being banned, and was allowed to be there as the tenants had invited him inside.

3/4 - A Section Place woman explained to police that her mother showed up at her place drunk and that they were arguing. The mother got a ride to another place.

- An officer helped a woman change a flat tire at the Exxon gas station on Grand Coulee Avenue.

3/5 - A Stevens Avenue man reported that he had heard his truck was being driven around town although he was out of town. The vehicle was reported stolen. It was found the next day  in Soap Lake where the police department had it towed.

3/7 - Police responded to a “romance issue” on Roosevelt Drive where a woman said her sister wasn’t letting a man leave. The sister was upset that her boyfriend was leaving on a flight to the East coast. He assured her he wasn’t abandoning her. Police told the man he should leave soon so that he wouldn’t miss his flight.

- Police responded to a 911 call from Washington Place. A man was in no apparent danger and told police to get off his porch, using profanity towards them. An officer told the man “peace out I’m leaving,” and they left the scene.

2/28 - Police responded to a report of a sighting of a possible murder suspect walking from the smoke shop to the casino wearing a hoodie and tan pants. Police found that it was another man altogether.

3/1 - Police provided backup assistance to Lincoln County officers who arrested someone at Lakeview Terrace. Then they gave two other people a ride to a gas station in Grand Coulee.

3/2 - Police spoke to a woman who was lying on the ground near Highway Tire. She said she was taking a nap. Tribal police gave her a ride to Nespelem.

- Police spoke to a woman on Central Drive who had been arguing with her boyfriend. She left to stay at a friend’s place for the night.

3/3 - Police responded to a collision on Columbia Avenue where a Ford pickup had collided with a tree. Injuries were reported. Police waited until a Washington State Patrol trooper arrived to investigate.

3/5 - Police were unable to locate a suspicious vehicle reported in the Central Drive area.

3/6 - Police responded to a report of someone throwing rocks at pedestrians near Grant and Columbia Avenues. Police saw a truck parked in a lane of travel and a man known to police to do meth yelling and ducking around the truck as if taking cover. The man got into his truck and drove off, hitting a garbage can, despite the officer telling him not to drive off. Police followed the man at a high rate of speed to the casino, and a Grand Coulee officer was there as backup. He was arrested for eluding police as well as for driving under the influence. He smelled like alcohol and was also suspected of being high on meth.
