The Lady Raiders basketball team hosted Tonasket and Bridgeport last week, demolishing them both.

Lake Roosevelt defeated the Lady Tigers in Tonasket, 60-35 Jan. 18.

"Coming off of [COVID-19] protocols and no practice for a week, we really came out and played well," Assistant Coach Matthew Pleasants said.

The seven varsity players "all played huge," he said. "Aaliyah Marchand came back from a rolled ankle that sidelined her all the way back in December. Her presence on the floor makes a huge difference. Halle Albert played really well and controlled tempo the whole game. We are eager to see us back in action with our full team."

Cylia St. Pierre was the Lady Raiders' leading scorer, with 21 points. Marchand scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Audrey Hansen scored 10 and had nine rebounds.

A Jan. 21 home game with Oroville was canceled by Oroville, with their team forfeiting the game.

Then on Saturday, Jan. 22, the Raiders hosted Bridgeport, winning by a whopping 57-point margin, 94-37.

"This was our first game this season where we had our full varsity able to suit up, and we looked good but rusty at times," Pleasants said. "The chemistry was there and it showed in our offensive scoring. We had several girls in double digits, but most importantly all 12 of the girls played hard and were focused from the beginning to the end of the game. Our guards were very dominant and played disciplined. We had a team-low of six turnovers. The wings and forwards did a great job of limiting the opposing team to one shot [allowing no offensive rebounds]. Those little things will carry us a long way in the postseason and set us apart from the pack as long as we continue to play with energy, value the ball, and rebound."

Stat leaders include Hansen, who led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds; Zalissa Finley, who scored 15 and had 13 rebounds; St. Pierre, who scored 11 and had three steals; and Sawyer Steffens, who scored 10.

A road game with Liberty Bell was scheduled for last night, results of which will be reported next week.

The Lady Raiders are scheduled to go to Manson on Thursday, Jan. 27, to face off against the Lady Trojans at 6 p.m.

A road game in Okanogan is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, again at 6 p.m.
