Fourteen more COVID-19 deaths have been announced in Grant County as cases surge. 

Grant County Health District announced the 14 additional deaths on Jan. 13 on their website. 

The deaths, which occured in November and December of 2021, include 12 males and two females who were residents of Moses Lake, the Quincy area, the Wilson Creek area and Soap Lake and were in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Of those who died, 11  were unvaccinated, two fully vaccinated, and one partially vaccinated. 

Twelve of the 14 had underlying health conditions.

GCHD continues to update case counts only on Thursdays, rather than every weekday, despite the rising case count, with a lower case count previously justifying the less frequent updates, according to Public Information Officer Misty Aguilar.

In their Jan. 13 update, GCHD reported 1,261 additional cases since Jan. 6. 

The Grand Coulee and Electric City area of the county shows 180 total cases since the pandemic began, up by 7 since Jan. 6. 

According to Okanogan County Public Health, as of Jan. 18, Coulee Dam has seen a total of 120 cases, up by 11  since Jan. 11. Elmer City is up by one case for a total of 45, and Nespelem is up by six cases for a total of 149.

Coulee Medical Center reports that from Jan. 11-17, out of 142 total tests performed at the Grand Coulee hospital, 51 (36%) came back positive for covid.
