Going once! Going twice! Sold! To the lady in the ugly sweater!

A virtual auction, a collaborative dinner provided by local restaurants, an ugly sweater contest, wine and beer? What’s not to like? 

The Vintners and Brewers Auction, hosted by the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, with dinner pickups from 12-2 p.m. at PK’s Culinary on Midway Avenue in Grand Coulee. The virtual auction will be held online from 6 to 8 p.m. 

The dinner includes loaded potato soup from the Hi-Dam Bar & Grill, smashed maple sesame potatoes from Siam Palace, roasted pork loin with spiced apple au jus and roasted veggies from PK’s Culinary, and a dessert box from Voltage Coffee House.

The dinners, along with auction participation are $40 per person, with the option to buy a red or white wine bottle pairing for an additional $10. 

“To add in some fun,” Chamber Director Rachelle Haven said, “we decided to ask people to put on their most ugly Christmas sweater, and whether or not they are picking up dinner for the auction, come down to PKs Culinary so we can snap a picture and enter them for a contest.”

First place in the contest will get you $150 to a business of your choice, while second place gets $100 and third get’s $50.

“While getting their picture taken,” Haven explained, “they can also participate in a wine or beer pull. We will have individually wrapped wine bottles and beer bottles where for $10 they can get a surprise beer or wine.”

Participating in the auction without a dinner costs $5.

“We have a lot of great items for auction this year, so we hope everyone has a chance to participate,” Haven said. “We have a trip to Palm Springs, overnight stays in surrounding areas, a BBQ, a fire pit, and gift baskets galore!” 

“Additionally, for those that can’t participate in the auction itself,” Haven continued, “we have created a raffle on the website. We have a Yeti Tundra cooler filled with booze-infused popsicles and two Yeti cups, or a 50/50 raffle where you can win half the pot.”
