Twelve more COVID-19 deaths are confirmed in Grant County, including a woman from Grand Coulee who was in her 70s, county health officials announced last week.

Grant County Health District confirmed the deaths in a Sept. 30 news release.

The deaths also include two men in their 30s, two men in their 50s, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 60s, two men in their 70s, and a man in his 90s, all from Moses Lake, as well as a man in his 80s and another in his 90s from Quincy. 

Eleven of the 12 who died had underlying health conditions, 11 were unvaccinated, and one was partially vaccinated. 

Grant County has had 167 Covid deaths since the pandemic began. 

“GCHD would like to remind everyone of the importance of all public health precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the news release says. “Anyone can have COVID-19 and not know they are contagious. COVID-19 is easily spread to close contacts, friends, family and loved ones before a person knows they are unintentionally spreading the virus. Please do your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19, continue to mask-up, social distance and avoid group gatherings.”

In Grant County, as of Oct. 5, the Grand Coulee and Electric City area has seen a total of 137 cases, up just one since last week with that case reported on Sept. 30.

Twenty-two Grant County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19. Their ages range from 1 to 80-plus.

As of Oct. 5, no additional cases have been reported for Coulee Dam, Elmer City, nor Nespelem in the past week, with Coulee Dam still having 98 total cases since the pandemic began, Elmer City having 35, and Nespelem having 113.
