School District budget approved for 2021-2022

A 2021-2022 school budget of $14.6 million in expenditures was approved on Monday.

The Grand Coulee Dam School District Board of Directors approved the budget in their regular meeting following a public hearing in which there was no public input. 

The beginning fund balance is roughly $1 million, and with about $14,455,000 in revenues, the total funds available in the 2021-22 school year total about $15,480,000. 

Those revenues include roughly $816,000 in local taxes dollars (property taxes), $900,000 in local “non-tax” dollars, $6.9 million in state general purpose funds, $2 million in state special purpose funds, $1 million in federal general-purpose funds, and $3 million in federal special purpose funds. 

The expenditures total $14,620,000, leaving about $850,000 remaining at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

In the 2020-2021 school year, expenditures totaled $13,000,000, and in the 2019-2020 school year, expenditures were about $11.6 million. 

Expenditures for 2021-2022 include $6.2 million for regular instruction, $1.4 million for special education instruction, and $2.9 million for support services. 

Food services total $447,000, while transportation is about the same at $448,000.
