Grand Coulee

Police

12/17 - A car driving with an expired registration was pulled over near Yakima and Wenatchee Avenues. The driver said the car didn’t have a license, insurance, or registration. She was wanted on multiple felony warrants. She was cuffed and placed in the back of the police car, but neither Grant nor Okanogan County would confirm the warrants. The woman was cited for driving without a license, having expired tabs, lacking insurance and registration, and then released. The car was towed.

12/19 - A man rolled a blue Dodge truck onto its side while heading north on SR-155 near Four Corners. Witnesses said the man then took off on foot towards Grand Coulee. An officer noted ice on parts of the road. A tow truck turned the Dodge upright, and about 20 gallons of gasoline, as well as oil, spilled out. The Electric City Fire Department was called and Washington State Patrol took control over the scene.

- A Lakeview Avenue woman had multiple contacts with police through Dec. 29. She has said that she believes her ex-husband is harassing her, that her landlords have put a speaker in her watch, that they used her credit card for Fed-Ex but she would let it go because they helped her move in, that they put a black substance on her clothes closet rods, that a watch was stolen, and other such claims without evidence. She also says she is moving. A 12/29 police report notes she has called police over 50 times since Nov. 6, 2020, and that her paranoia is believed to be connected to a brain injury, mental illness, or drug use.

- A Hill Avenue woman heard a bang in the downstairs part of her apartment and believed someone was inside. She had also fallen and couldn’t get up. Police were able to gain entry to the apartment and an EMT helped the woman.

12/21 - An E Street woman said she lost her pigs. Police were unable to locate the pigs.

12/22 - A man told police that while he was at a Verizon store, his stolen cell phone was tracked to the Four Corners area. He said the phone was stolen from a motel in the Okanogan area and the surveillance footage there showed it was a native American man in his 50s with limited white facial hair, weighing about 140 pounds. The man described the phone. The report said the phone was in transit at the time of the call.

12/23 - A man reported that he thought he heard someone inside the fenced area of a lot he owns on Burdin Boulevard where there are car parts. Police didn’t find anyone there.

12/25 - Responding to a report of animal cruelty, an officer observed two huskies chained outside a house without food or water. The officer told the reporting party that he wouldn’t do anything that day because it was Christmas, but if the animals continued to be neglected he would take them to the Grant County Animal Shelter.

- A USBR Plant Protection officer hit a curb near the gas station in Coulee Dam while turning onto Lincoln Avenue in a Ford Explorer. The front right tire area had about $500 worth of damage.

12/27 - A man on Bowen Street said his ex-wife, who now lives in Spokane, came to his house and said she had car troubles. She was allowed to sit inside while he looked at the car, which didn’t have any problems he could see. The woman then refused to leave. Police told her she had to leave. She eventually did, driving off after arguing with the man and officer for some time.

- Police checked on the welfare of an Electric City man for his daughter. He was fine.

12/28 - Police helped a woman on Miller Avenue get her car unstuck from the snow.

12/29 - A man on Division Street was arrested for fourth-degree assault and taken to jail after allegedly hitting his wife in the eye, giving her a black eye following an argument over cats. He was taken to Grant County Jail.

- Police checked on a horse on E Street and noted it didn’t have hay to eat. The ground was covered in snow,  preventing adequate grazing, and the horses ribs were beginning to show. The officer took photos and forwarded them to a Grant County Animal Control deputy, who said he would check on the animal the next day.

12/31 - A woman reported being included in a group chat over text message with about 20 people she does not know. She asked not to be included but the texts continue. The texts are not insulting nor threatening, she said, just annoying. An officer suggested she block all the numbers in the group text.

- A man on Grand Coulee Avenue said a white Jeep was speeding in the alley by his house. He asked the driver to slow down, which prompted the driver to get out and ask, “What are you going to do about it?” To which the man said something like “whatever I have to do.” The car drove off, and the man grabbed his AR-15 gun and waited for it to return. The Jeep stopped again, and the driver asked if the man was going to shoot them. The man said he was a veteran and would defend his home. The Jeep drove off. An officer saw the Jeep nearby but no charges were filed as the man didn’t wish to press charges.

1/1/2021 - A woman said she heard someone knocking on her bedroom door. Police checked her Hill Avenue apartment to see if anyone was inside.

The manager checked on the window from inside her apartment, and while there saw a box of what appeared to be drug paraphernalia, which he took a photo of and showed police. Police told him to save the photo, and that they would be in touch. The tenant never returned to the apartment while police were there.

12/31 - Someone reported what sounded like gunshots near Camas and 11th Streets, but the noises turned out to be fireworks lit off near Elmer City.

1/2/2021 - Police were unable to reach a woman who reported she thinks her ex-boyfriend was staying at a motel in Coulee Dam and that it bothered her.

- An employee at the Columbia River Inn reported two people seemingly engaged in sexual activity outside the motel. Police saw a man holding a woman up by the back of her pants and shoulders near a Dodge Dart. The woman was intoxicated on something, and an ambulance was called. An EMT administered NARCAN that an officer had and took her  to the hospital. The woman was wanted on warrants out of Spokane County and when released from the hospital, was taken to Spokane County Jail. A substance that appeared to be black tar heroin was later found in her motel room.
