Shutting down local access for no good reason

What do you think of the fact that the USBR has closed the parking area on the top of the dam?

It is a wonderful place to park and look out at the lake and surrounding country. It is a great place to watch the moon rise and visit with friends and family or make new friends.

I contacted them today (June 11) and asked why it needed to be closed 24/7.

They use the area for checking temperatures of employees for maybe up to 60 minutes a day, four to five days a week. I asked why they couldn’t open it up for the community and tourists and was told it was too much trouble to move the cones. I told the administrator that it shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes to do that and then the citizens could enjoy the area.

Have you noticed they have shut off the back side of the dam also? She said people could walk behind the dam but not drive. That is also a favorite place to go and spend time for many people.

I personally am getting tired of having everything shut down for no good reason, and the people making the decisions don’t even live here. Maybe it is time to call and voice our concerns. If we don’t, what might happen? Do you like seeing how our government is running things and the citizens? Call the USBR at 509-633-9507.

Thanks for your help.
