You can get a college level geology education specific to our area for free on Youtube!

Geologist Professor Nick Zentner, who teaches at Central Washington University, has been holding lectures from his Ellensburg home on his YouTube page in a series he calls "Nick From Home."

Zentner, who spoke about local geology last year at the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center, is "live streaming" his lectures from his yard, and the videos remain available beyond the initial live stream.

Topics include volcanoes, floods, supercontinents, ancient rivers, and more.

The Grand Coulee is the topic of a live stream that is scheduled to air on Thursday, April 9, at 6 p.m.

Lake Chelan is the topic of todays, April 7 lecture, and J Harlen Bretz, a geologist who became famous for his work on the Missoula Floods, is the topic of the April 8 lecture, both of which are also live streaming at 6 p.m. and remain available to view afterwards.

Zentners series Nick On The Rocks, which has aired on PBS, is also available on YouTube and includes an episode on Steamboat Rock.

Included here is Zentner's lecture on Ancient Rivers to get you started.
