During the University of Washington's spring break, a group of five UW students volunteered on a literacy arts project at Nespelem School, working with third-, fourth-, seventh- and eighth-graders to write and publish their own book.

The theme this year was "Everyday Heroes." Students across the different grade levels wrote stories on heroes from their communities and beyond. All of their stories will be compiled into a magazine, and sent out to all of the student participants.

The UW-based "Pipeline Project" is celebrating its 20th year connecting undergraduate students to elementary, middle and high school students around Washington state.
