The Lady Raiders beat the Lady Tigers in Tonasket last week, and also defeated Soap Lake.

Audrey Hansen was the lead scorer in the 56-32 defeat of Tonasket Jan. 22, with 14 points. Hansen also contributed eight rebounds, six offensive and two defensive.

Shantana Pakootas had six of the 18 Lady Raider steals in the game. Tonasket only had one.

"This game was a good test to see where we are and see if we are trending in the right direction," Assistant Coach Matt Pleasants said. "It was a close game in their gym last time we played. Still not completely there as we had a slow first half missing some open shots, but we responded well in the second half."

Lake Roosevelt hosted Soap Lake Jan. 24, defeating the Lady Eagles 55-23.

Soap Lake actually led 3-0 for the first few minutes of the game, but when the Lady Raiders found their rhythm they took off and never looked back, leading 12-7 at the end of the first quarter, 30-9 at the end of the half, 47-17 at the end of the third, and 55-23 at the end of the game.

Pakootas led the Lady Raiders with 13 points, five rebounds, and five steals.

Hannah Wapato put in 12 points by making four three-point shots.

"The girls played with great energy, and it showed," Pleasants said. "We have been talking about being mentally locked in and ready to go. Our shots are starting to fall, and they are playing with confidence."

Lady Raiders Cassidy Reyes and Shantana Pakootas put pressure on a Soap Lake girl who had just gotten the ball from an inbound after an LR score.

The Lady Raiders were scheduled to play the Brewster Lady Bears at home last night, results of which will be in next week's Star.

They play Liberty Bell Friday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. at home in Coulee Dam. Then on Feb. 2, the girls will play on the road against Waterville-Mansfield, also at 6 p.m.

"I believe we are trending in the right direction and look forward to the following games to close out the regular season before postseason play," Pleasants said.
