The Lady Raiders earned two straight wins last week, defeating both the Fillies and the Lady Trojans.

Lake Roosevelt defeated the Manson Lady Trojans on the road Jan. 8 with a final score of 41-24.

"Manson was the start of where we really started focusing on the things we gotta do," said Head Coach Peewee Pleasants, happy to win after a string of losses. "We were playing as a team, and it all started coming back together in Manson."

The Lady Raiders hosted the Bridgeport Fillies Jan. 11, almost tripling their opponent's score 75-27.

"Tonight it really fell into place," Pleasants said after the game. "The girls have really been focusing in on taking care of the little things that we kind of got away from. They've really been working hard in practices. It was a complete team effort tonight. The girls had a lot of energy and support in each other."

One of many successful LR moments came when Shantana Pakootas popped the ball out of an opponent's hands and into the hands of teammate Cassidy Reyes.

"That's some of the little stuff we've been focusing on," Pleasants said. "Really clamping down on playing solid defense, making sure we rotate in the right position, doing the things that it takes to be successful. That right there was a product of it."

Audrey Hansen was the leading scorer for the Lady Raiders that night with 16 points.

The Lady Raiders are ranked fourth in the Central Washington 2B League with a 7-3 league win-loss record, 7-5 overall.

They are behind Brewster (10-0, 11-1), Waterville-Mansfield (8-3, 11-3), and Liberty Bell (7-2, 9-3).

"We put ourselves in a bad situation, not taking care of business," Pleasants said. "Now we have our work cut out for us. We have to play solid ball, and we have to be consistent the rest of the season to finish in a positive light."

A game scheduled for last night against Soap Lake was cancelled due to the gym not having water from a reported broken water line and will be rescheduled according to Lake Roosevelt staff.

They play in Oroville against the Lady Hornets on Friday, Jan. 18, starting at 6 p.m., then host the Tonasket Lady Tigers in Coulee Dam Jan. 22, also at 6 p.m.
