Grand Coulee approves senior meals donation

Grand Coulee will donate $3,500 to the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Meals Program, the city council decided at their Dec. 4 meeting. The program donated over 16,000 meals to the Grand Coulee Dam area from October of 2017 to September of 2018.

Grand Coulee approves hotel-motel tax distribution

The Grand Coulee city council decided how to disperse their hotel-motel tax money for 2019, giving $4,000 to the Coulee Area Park & Recreation District, $7,000 to the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, and $8,000 to the Ridge Riders, totaling $19,000. CAPRD had asked for $6,000, the chamber had asked for $12,000, and the Ridge Riders had asked for $15,000, totaling $33,000.

Douglas Street to be chip sealed

Coulee Dam’s Douglas Street, which leads to city hall, will be chip-sealed next summer from Lincoln to Columbia Avenues.

A state Transportation Improvement Board grant of $81,307 will pay for the work.

Correction

New Grand Coulee Dam School District Director Brenda Covington graduated from the University of Montana. An article in the Nov. 28 Star stated the wrong school.
