Lady Raider volleyball player Mikaylah Thompson was named the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association's player of the week, WIAA announced last Wednesday.

"I'm thrilled that they chose her! She is very deserving!" said Head Coach Teri Sue Reed, who had nominated Thompson for the award. "Thompson had an impressive showing against Wilbur-Creston, where the Raiders won in five tough sets," the WIAA website said. "They were led by the junior who totaled 25 kills and served nine aces."

"Mikaylah Thompson was a dominant offensive force," Reed said after the game, in which Lake Roosevelt came back from a 7-1 deficit to win game five and take the match.

Thompson will be on the court Thursday, Sept. 20, when the Lady Raiders play Soap Lake at home in Coulee Dam. Varsity will take to the court sometime after the Junior Varsity game, which starts at 5:30 p.m.
