Riders enjoy a thrill at the 2017 Colorama carnival.

Fasten your belts; you're in for a ride.

This year's Colorama Festival kicks off Thursday, May 10, and extends well into Sunday.

There are wild rides featured in Rainier Amusements carnival alley at North Dam Park.

And wild rides at the Ridge Rider's Pro-West Rodeo.

And if that isn't enough, fasten your seatbelt tight for the helicopter rides, staged from the lower ball fields.

And there's a host of other exciting events, such as the Colorama Parade, starting at 11 a.m. from near Les Schwabs and moving to Midway where it will bring its "oohs' and "ahs" from several thousand people that traditionally line the streets.

Add to this a colony of vendors at North Dam Park where you can lunch, get refreshments, and find an array of gift items (think Mother's Day on Sunday).

When you tire from all of this, you can kick up your feet in the chamber of commerce refreshment tent at the tennis court at North Dam.

And there's a whole lot more. Check The Star newspaper's special Colorama section below or in this week's newspaper for all the events and times.

But remember, fasten your belts for a wild ride at this year's Colorama Festival celebration.
