Tennis girls upset A-school Omak

Last week in Raider tennis, the boys' team lost and girls' team won against Omak opponents, and the Raiders won aplenty in their individual matchups against Davenport/Harrington.

Competing on the Raider home courts against Omak March 27, the Raider girls' team won 3-2.

"This was an excellent outing against an A school," said Head Coach Steve Archer. "Our girls really shined. It's something special when a 2-B school like ours, with only four girls, can pull off a win against an A school like Omak."

The boys lost their games 3-2. Raider Bradley Wilder won his singles matchup, but that matchup counts as a forfeit because it was Wilder's second match of the day due to a shortage of qualifying players.

"Malcolm Carson's defeat of Chase Grillo is a quality win," Archer said. Carson defeated Grillo with scores of 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-3.

Playing another home game with Davenport and Harrington Thursday, there were no team scores, but the boys won all their matchups, and the girls won three and lost two. The game was a non-league match.

"It was a beautiful, warm day for tennis," Archer said. "Both Davenport and Harrington have small teams, so they joined together for the match. It was a fun day."

Currently on spring break, the tennis team's next outing is on Tuesday, April 10 in Coulee Dam, where they will host the Tonasket Tigers at 4 p.m.
