Chamber to Meet

 The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce will meet at the Siam Palace at noon this Thursday, April 5. Kelly Buche from JR Newhouse will be speaking about new tax laws. The public is welcome.

Annual Eco-Gardening

Symposium

The fourth annual Columbia Basin Eco-Gardening Symposium promises to offer a sensational diversity of speakers, exhibitors, door prizes, and food.

The event takes place Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Technical Skills Center at 900 Yonezawa Blvd., in Moses Lake.

It is co-sponsored by the Grant County Conservation District and the Grant-Adams Master Gardener Foundation.

The second speaker of the trio talking at the symposium is Karen Lewis, a Washington State University Regional Tree Extension tree fruit specialist. Her talk “Fruit Trees in Your landscape? It’s Complicated” will focus on the challenges in growing and maintaining fruit trees in home gardens.

Coulee Creators Meet on Tuesdays

American Legion to Meet

The American Legion Post 157 next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, at the Vets Center in Electric City.

Lions Club Meets First and Third Tuesdays

The GCD Lions Club will be meeting at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, April 17, at the Melody Restaurant in Coulee Dam.

Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter Meets

The Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission, Wenatchee.

The program will be on Ice Age Megafloods of the Pacific Northwest. Ice Age megafloods, from at least three different sources, left a dramatic mark on the Pacific Northwest that is clearly visible today. Our speaker, Bruce Bjornstad, will show evidence for dozens of floods from glacial Lakes Missoula and Columbia, as well as Lake Bonneville, via maps, drone videos and other imagery. Bruce is a licensed geologist/hydrogeologist and author who specializes in the Ice Age Floods and is now the Master of  Megaflood features quadricopter videos. He recently retired as a Senior Research Scientist at Battelle’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His research, books, and aerial videos can be viewed at his website, BruceBjornstad.com.

The program is free and open to the public.
