Two police officers from Coulee Dam and Grand Coulee interrupted a burglary at 301 Columbia last Thursday in Coulee Dam.

Grand Coulee officer Matthew Ponusky heard that a residential alarm had been sounded and went to assist Coulee Dam officer Jordan Ulrich in pursuing the alarm.

Ulrich had gone to the back door and contacted a male intruder who slammed the door in his face and went back inside.

Meanwhile, Ponusky had gone to the side of the house, where another man who had broken the screen from inside the house was preparing to jump, but returned inside.

That’s when Ulrich reported to Ponusky that one male had run out the back door and that he was in pursuit.

The chase was on, with one of the men running into the brush near the Coulee Dam bridge. He lost the officers in the thick brush.

When the officers returned to the Columbia Avenue residence they found items collected from throughout the house near the door.

A neighbor told police that he saw the two men knock on the door and then sit in a swing. He took a picture of the two, one of whom was identified as one of the men the two officers had seen inside the house. Police couldn’t identify either of the suspects.
