My thanks to The Star for providing the opportunity to share some of my background and why I want to be your mayor for the next four years. I am looking forward to listening to you share your concerns, ideas and thoughts of how we can work together to make our town a better place to live.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during my campaign to be your mayor. Working together, we can accomplish and solve some of the problems plaguing our town.

I was born and raised in the Brewster-Pateros area and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1974. In 1979 I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in business management and accounting, and later receiving my nursing degree.

I returned to Wenatchee, joining my parents’ family-owned corporation, which employed six to 10 permanent and seasonal workers and generated approximately $400,000 in gross revenue each year.

One of the many things I learned from my parents was to volunteer in your community. I have made volunteering a major part of my life, both in Wenatchee as well as Coulee Dam.

We sold our business in 2006 and soon after I retired. I spent the next seven years caring for my aging parents. Both my parents passed away in 2013, at which time I sold the family home and moved here to Coulee Dam to be close to friends and family.

As your mayor, I will be able to utilize the skills I learned while managing a small business, nursing, and volunteering in youth sports activities and the Boy Scouts program. I also served on the Chelan-Douglas County Irrigation Board. While living in Wenatchee, I also served my community as a member of the training committee for emergency medical services associated with local fire and police departments, and as a member of a committee charged with screening police officer candidates. Since arriving here in Coulee Dam, I have met many of you

through the Meals on Wheels program and chamber of commerce, as well as my interest in the workings of the town council.

The challenges ahead for our town include shrinking cash reserves, turnover in our police department, and rebuilding our volunteer fire department and emergency medical services. Our neighboring communities face similar situations and I look forward to working with them for the benefit of all.

I look forward to working with and for all of you over the next four years.

I care!

Larry Price

Candidate for mayor,

Coulee Dam
