American Legion Post 157 will give away winter clothing this Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Vets Center in Electric City.

The Vets Center has collected and repaired over 100 winter coats during the summer and these will be available free to those coming on Saturday.

Legion Adjutant Shawn Neider said Tuesday that winter hats and gloves also available free.

The Legion gathers these articles through donations made by local citizens who give articles to the Vets Center for sale during the Legion’s Saturday garage sales during the summer.

Neider said that workers pull out the winter clothing items for their annual winter clothing pickup held when the weather starts to get cold.

“We have most sizes, and about 100 coats to give away,” Neider said.

The Legion gave away 17 coats during its Veterans Day pancake breakfast last Friday.

The free coat giveaway is open to anyone who needs warm winter clothing.
