Challenge to council: let people vote on pathway

Letter to the Editor

I was under the impression that we elected people to office to represent us. Silly me! That certainly isn’t the case in Electric City, where the people have no say in what the city council decides to do. They have proven that time and time again.

There was a survey (after the council had already decided to have the pathway) but we haven’t learned the outcome of that – just the council telling us, the people, we’re in favor of the pathway. Funny, I haven’t talked to anyone yet in favor of it.

The astronomical cost of a pathway could certainly be put to better use. I challenge the council to put this issue on the ballot and let the people really decide.

The council represents themselves, not the people who voted them into office.
