Missing equipment from middle school gym fitness center

Letter to the Editor

We are missing some fitness equipment from the middle school gym fitness area. The following equipment was noticed missing after the weekend of March 19-20: two 20-pound dumbbells; two 25-pound dumbbells; two 30-pound dumbbells; two 35-pound dumbbells; two 50-pound dumbbells, and an inclined workout board.

As we all know, this equipment was purchased to support our middle school kids, but has been made available to the public at no cost, except for a key deposit of $25 that is returned when the keys are returned.

It is disturbing and frustrating to think that people would take valuable equipment that is available to everyone, at no charge. If this illegal activity continues it will call into question the policy of the open use of the gym. In short, the privilege to use this equipment could be jeopardized and the gym closed to the public. The unfortunate misdeeds of a few would again affect the responsible use of the many.

If you are aware of the location of this equipment, I encourage the return of it to the gym without any questions asked. It is the right thing to do. Further, I would appreciate any information leading to the return of the missing equipment.

Thanks for your help and cooperation in preserving our valuable school district assets.
