Lake Roosevelt’s seniors are headed to California for their special school year-end trip.

The proposal was presented to the Grand Coulee Dam School District directors Monday night by Associated Student Body President Devan Black, and after a brief discussion, the board approved the request to travel.

The board learned that 25 seniors are eligible to make the trip. They will leave Sunday, May 29, and return Tuesday, May 31.

They will travel to Spokane by bus, where they will catch a flight to San Jose, California, spending part of the day at the Great American Theme Park.

The next day the group will travel by bus to San Francisco, where they will spend time at Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Little Italy and Twin Peaks.

Late that evening the seniors will return to San Jose, where they will stay until departure for home the next day. The group will arrive back at Lake Roosevelt about 8 p.m.

Advisors to the group are Shelley Black and Susan Duclos.

Members of the class have been raising money for several years to help pay for the trip.

Individual seniors will pay $708 for their part of the overall expense of the trip.

Adult chaperones include Black and Duclos, Vice Principal Paul Turner, Tracy White and Kathy Baty.
