Loryn Moore will compete at the state cross country meet Saturday for the second year in a row, after qualifying at the District 5-6 race at Wentachee last weekend.

“Loryn Moore ran a very aggressive race, placing second and qualifying for state,” Raider Head Coach Gary Darnold said. “She was nearly a minute faster than her time on the same course last year at the same district race.”

Moore crossed the finish line at 20 minutes, 53 seconds, a career personal record.

Kayla St. Pierre was the other Raider girl who ran on Halloween day in Wenatchee. St. Pierre finished 14th in 24:29.

The Raider boys finished 11th overall in team points at district, beating Oroville by 40 points.

Robert George finished the season, leading the Raiders across the finish line. George placed 21st in the meet in 18:52, a new PR.

Cameron Tillman came in at 47th place with the time of 20:05. Cole Trotter was close behind Tillman at 49th in 20:11.

Corban Wilder ran a PR at district, finishing 68th at 21:13. Kaden Trotter was close behind Wilder, coming across the finish line at 21:16 for 70th.

Will Friedlander came across the line at 73rd place with the time of 22:03, and Bradley Wilder finished the race at 23:18 for 76th.

“I know that all our runners gave their best effort in the district race,” Darnold said. “I could not have asked for anything more than their best.”

Looking back on the season, Coach Darnold said, “Each of our runners showed improvement throughout the season, as shown by them setting new PRs through the season.”

Liberty Bell took both boys’ and girls’ championships in the district. Brewster and Tonasket boys’ teams were the other two teams qualifying for state from the District 5-6 race.

The State B Cross Country Race takes place at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco this Saturday. Moore will be running in the second race of the day at 10 a.m.
