You are all invited to the Moose Lodge Halloween day party, an event especially designed for kids. The event will be from noon to 3 p.m. at the lodge, 216 Continental Heights in Grand Coulee. They’ll offer ghoulish games, a freaky fun cake walk and frightening food. Wear your Halloween costume because there will be a “best costume” contest. Parents are advised to attend and to supervise their children.

transfer station

The Regional Board of Mayors has agreed to make the summer hours stand year-round at the Delano Regional Transfer Station. Beginning Nov. 1, hours at the transfer station will be 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The Transfer Station is closed Wednesdays and Sundays.

New floor

for police

Grand Coulee’s police department has new floor covering. The department had a wood facsimile covering placed this last week to replace a badly-chipped tile floor.

City supports health district

The Electric City Council voted to contribute $2,000 to the Grant County Health District to help with its many programs. Electric City has done this for several years. The Health District had asked for a contribution of $2 per resident. Population of Electric City is right at 1,000.

City won’t

sell the street

A request by Dale and Vel Walker that Electric City sell them a strip of land about eight feet by 100 feet along Jackson Avenue was denied by the city council at its last meeting. The council feared that if they allowed the street vacation they would face requests from others.

Anderson on

mosquito district

Lynda Anderson was named to the Grant County Mosquito District 3 board of commissioners by Electric City. The commission is made up of five members.

Northern Quest will host

veterans display

The Kalispel Tribe and Northern Quest Resort and Casino have approved a grant for the organization called Nativeteren to set up a military display at the casino on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. The display is a collection started by local veteran Arnie Holt and features military memorabilia, including artifacts and weapons used during wars. Many of the objects were donated by local veterans. It will also feature music from the 1960s, videos of Bob Hope entertaining the troops during the Vietnam War, and the documentary movie “The Shadow of the Blade.” The free event will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pavillon Room.

Caregiver

training offered

There will be a Foster Caregiver Core Training class at Grand Coulee City Hall Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 12 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays, from 9-4. The class is sponsored by the state Department of Social and Health Services. For more information call (509) 846-8552.
