Picture yourself driving in the Colorama Parade in your own personal fire truck.

It could happen if you take advantage of the offer of a 1986 Ford F350 fire truck declared surplus by the town of Coulee Dam.

Contact town hall and have your checkbook in hand.

Members of the town council have set a minimum bid of $5,000 for the fire truck.

The town of Coulee Dam will save about $3,500 with a 2-percent discount in its health insurance pool payments after earning a “WellCity” recognition by the Association of Washington Cities.

“This recognition is awarded to cities and public entities that met stringent WellCity standards, which demonstrate their commitment to employee health,” a press release explained.

Time to run for office

If you’re thinking about running for office, you’ve got about a month to decide. Candidates must file their intentions with their county auditor’s office the week of May 11-15.
