Raider football is 3-0 so far this season. “All in all we look pretty good,” Coach Matt Bona said of the team so far. Zach Bowman, Omar Fercha and Zach Thiefault have been the offensive leaders so far.

Fire destroyed an Electric City home early Sunday. Pauline Bryant was at home alone at the time of the blaze and escaped with only her pajama’s. Sometime between 5 and 5:30am she awoke to the sound of the smoke detector, her bedroom was full of smoke, she screamed for help from her window until her neighbor, Steve Breeze, came and pulled her out.

Thirty-two year old Robert Milliken was sworn in this week as Coulee Dam’s newest police officer. Milliken comes from Coeur d’ Alene where he was a reserve Deputy with Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

The Eager Beaver 4-H club won several trophies and 78 ribbons at the fair last week. The winners include: Tom Dickinson, David Finch, Terry Dickinson, Ronnie Green, Debbie Green, Kerry Green, Rod Green, Jeanne Holm, Cindy Boggs, Bob Holm, Tony Dickinson, Dick Holm, Eric Holm, Joe Dickinson, Mike Holm, Carolyn Finch, Glennis Ware, Shelly Huston and Mary Finch. 

50 Years Ago

Fire destroyed five businesses in Coulee Dam Thursday. The Green Hut, Helen’s Dress Shop, The Coulee Dam Barber, Coulee Dam Hardware and the Coulee Dam Motel. The Motel is the only one still standing thanks to combined efforts of all four local fire departments. All five owners of the businesses plan to rebuild and reopen in the future.

60 Years Ago

Two months of outstanding detective work by Grand Coulee Police department climaxed Thursday with the arrest of Mose Johnson, 53, and the seizure of an estimated $10,000 worth of narcotic marijuana. Federal Narcotics Agents have been called in to assist in the continuing investigation.
