Grand Coulee original Shane Proctor maintained his lead in the PBR Built Ford Tough Series by just 53.96 points, despite going just one for three last weekend. Proctor has 3,414.120 points and has earned $116,960.80 so far this season. Silvano Alves is chasing him with 3,360.160 points and earnings of $128,357.02.

Demolition material from A.E. Wright Elementary was 81 percent recycled, School Superintendent Dennis Carlson said. The goal had been 75 percent.

Friends of

Rachel Club

meet Monday

Friends of Rachel Club members will be sharing their message of positivity with the community at a family event on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Village Cinema.

Members of FoR from Lake Roosevelt High School and Grand Coulee Dam Middle School will discuss their projects and the impact Rachel’s Challenge is having on their schools.

The presentations will be followed by a movie shown for attendees of the family event. Village Cinema, which is donating use of the theater for the student program, will waive the cost of admission to the movie for those families donating canned goods for the benefit of the local food bank.

Rachel’s Challenge is “a series of student empowering programs and strategies that equip students and adults to combat bullying and allay feelings of isolation and despair by creating a culture of kindness and compassion,” the organization’s website states.

Guild seeks

volunteers

The Coulee Medical Center Guild is looking for volunteers, candy stripers and books sales help. The group meets in the medical center’s volunteer training room on the third Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon. A business lunch follows from noon to 1 p.m., with the meal provided by the hospital.

Guild dues are $5 a year.

Fire Dept.

gains two

Two nominees were named to the Coulee Dam Volunteer Fire Department last Wednesday night by the town council. Named to the fire department were Benjamin Rislou and Samuel Thomas.

Vote of support

The Electric City Council voted at its meeting last Tuesday night to support Grant County’s Emergency Management program with a $68 donation. The city has voted the same amount for the past five years.

on the loose

At least two local residents will take the stage at Masquers Theatre in Soap Lake when it presents “Sin, Sex and the CIA” beginning March 1. Jeremy Hansen place a preacher always caught in compromising positions. Carol Boyce plays a ranger in the comedy.
