School patrons will get one final look at the design and color scheme of the new K-12 school complex before it goes out to bid, Grand Coulee Dam School District board members indicated at their Monday night meeting.

While the date hasn’t been set for the public look, it will likely be after the holidays, and probably just before the project goes out for bid.

Superintendent Dr. Dennis Carlson said the design of the complex hasn’t materially changed; however, the board felt that local school patrons might like to see the color schemes and materials being planned for the buildings.

The construction of the new school is set to go out for bid Jan. 23, with the opening of bids on Feb. 26, 2013.

Carlson stated that there will be options to bid, one being whether the buildings will have a metal or composite roof and also options on some floor coverings.

A pre-bid meeting for potential bidders will be held prior to that date so everyone interested in bidding on the new school can understand the unique requirements of the project.

Carlson said Tuesday that this schedule should lead to a start date around late March or early April. He said early activity would include distributing fill and building a retaining wall.
