Grand Coulee Police

3/25 - A Lewiston driver was stopped when an officer noticed that occupants of the vehicle were not wearing seat belts. There were four in the front seat and four in the back. Two minors, the driver and a front seat adult were not wearing seat belts. Citations were issued for that and for not having insurance.

- A woman from Rathdrum, Idaho, was cited for talking on her cell phone while driving.

3/27 - A caller reported loud noise coming from a nearby apartment on Grand Coulee’s Main Street. When police arrived, the officer found a man and a woman in a car who said they came out to their car to continue an argument so they wouldn’t disturb others in the apartment complex. They were told to be quiet and agreed to do so.

- Police were called to a residence on “E” Street because of a shoving match between a 13-year-old boy and his older sister.

3/28 - A domestic issue on Williams Street in Electric City attracted an officer who learned that several parties came to the location to play pool. Upon being told that the husband was not home and the wife didn’t have a key to where the pool table was located, a physical confrontation ensued and there was some shoving involved and a man allegedly struck his wife. Police are looking for a man who will be charged with assault and malicious mischief for hitting his wife and kicking and damaging a fence.

3/29 - A report that there was someone yelling and screaming at Goodfellow and Park in Electric City was followed up by an officer who couldn’t find anyone in the area.

- A Pateros woman who had violated switchyard trespassing signs a few weeks ago, did so again, and was ticketed by police. She was observed on security camera and police were dispatched to check on the trespass. The first time she told police she was reading her bible.

- A couple advised police that they didn’t want to press charges against another person for an assault incident that had occurred the previous day.

- A Facebook posting caused a citizen to contact police. The posting suggested that the writer had an anger problem and that he might hurt someone. Police contacted the person and he said he might get mad enough to yell at someone.

3/30 - A man known to be wanted on a Lincoln County warrant was seen walking in Electric City. He was arrested and taken to Lincoln County Jail.

- An Electric City woman was cited for not having vehicle insurance after being stopped for a faulty headlamp.

3/31 - Police responded to an East Grand Coulee site and found part of a couch inside a rolled up rug that someone had reportedly feared was a body.

- Police were advised by off-duty officers that they saw a woman driving who had warrants out for her arrest. The officer stopped the woman near the Visitor Center and learned through dispatch that the driver was wanted in Spokane and Marysville. She was cited and told to have someone pick up the car and not to drive.

4/1 - A resident on Second Street in Electric City reported that someone had entered their home and taken power tools worth about $400.

Coulee Dam Police

3/21 - Police saw a black Labrador dog running loose at the corner of River Drive and Roosevelt Way. The dog was caught and the owner asked to come to the scene. The officer reminded the owner that he previously had been cited for letting his dog run loose, and warned him to keep the dog tied up.

3/22 - Police were called to a house on Tulip Street. Since it was “trust” property, Tribal Police were alerted. A person in the house advised that there was an open basement window and officers found footprints in the snow leading to a youth under a nearby tree. The youth was taken by Tribal Police.

3/23 - Police investigated a two-vehicle accident in front of the Coulee Dam Casino, where a pickup had backed into a car. The driver of the pickup was cited.

3/25 - A youth was detained and taken to Okanogan County Juvenile Facility after it was reported that he had made threatening statements on Facebook and high school officials said they had reason to think he might carry out the threats.

3/26 - A woman was cited for driving with a suspended license after being stopped for not using her directional signals. Her license had been suspended for not paying traffic tickets. A licensed driver came to take charge of the vehicle.

3/27 - A woman on Holly Street told police that a neighbor was tossing yard waste and debris onto her property. Police talked to the neighbor, who admitted the infraction and said she would have it cleaned up. Police gave her five days to do so.

3/30 - A Lake Roosevelt High School student was arrested for possession of “spice,” a controlled substance, and having a smoking pipe in his possession. He told investigators that a friend gave him the spice and smoking device, but that he regularly purchased the controlled substance at a local business. The report was sent to the Okanogan County prosecutor’s office for review.

3/30 - A driver known to have a suspended license was seen driving on the Elmer City Access Road was stopped and cited.

The man couldn’t reach a licensed driver to come and take charge of the vehicle, so it was towed. The driver walked away after receiving his citation.

4/2 - Police went to Coulee Medical Center where a 3-year-old boy was being examined. The boy had told a nurse that his dad had hit him. The family had been staying at a Coulee Dam motel, where the father was questioned. He told the officer that the boy had been jumping on the bed and fell, hitting his mouth on the end table. Two of the boy’s siblings told police that the boy had hit his face on the end table. Police advised Child Protective Services of the report.

- City hall received a report of graffiti on the Fiddle Creek bridge. Officers took pictures of the graffiti and city officials prepared a work order for the town crew to remove it.
