After a long and fruitful life, Harold Eugene Dunlap died surrounded by family at the home of daughter Flora Long and son-in-law, Ken Long. Raised on a homestead ranch in the foothills of Keller Butte prior to the building of the Grand Coulee Dam, Gene was very much a child of his era. John W. Magers, 71, of Republic, Wash., passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to R.W. Magers and Marion(Danekas) Magers of Ritzville, Wash., on July 27, 1942, in Spokane. John married Carol Lee Fowler of Republic on December 25, 1963. After they married, they moved to Coulee Dam where John began his teaching career. Lucy A. Stanczak, 68, born November 10, 1945, in Nespelem, Washington, to Chester and Cecelia Covington-Clark Sr., died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, surrounded by family in Spokane, Washington. On June 10, 1966, Lucy married Lyle Jack “Whitey” Stanczak Sr. in California. Everyone knew Lucy loved her Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in which she was intimately involved in all aspects of church ministry, particularly the pilgrimages. He married his wife of 65 years Helen (Bush) in Omak, Wash., on October 23, 1948. Norman was a descendent of the Nez Perce Tribe, Lapwai, Idaho. Bill Brashears passed away in Grand Coulee on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. He was born November 26, 1928, in Leola, Ark., the second of three sons to Bryan and Beatrice Brashears. The family moved to Brewster, Wash., when Bill was 10 years old. Another move when Bill was a freshman in high school took them to Eatonville, Wash., near Mt. Rainier. Stan Rawley of Coulee Dam, Wash., passed away at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the age of 83. He was born on January 31, 1930, in Brewster, Wash. As a child, Stan's family moved to the Grand Coulee Dam area where his mother worked very hard as a switchboard operator for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to raise her two young sons. Frederick "Earl" DeCamp passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, one month shy of his 96th birthday. Earl was born November 28, 1917, on the DeCamp homestead eight miles north of Nespelem, Wash., to Earl DeCamp and Florence Knowles DeCamp. Dorothy (Dot) Snyder went for her last ride on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, to join her husband of 50 years Ed. Dot was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Feb. 8, 1933.
