The Grant County Fair announced last week that they are looking for an interested citizen of Grant County to serve on the Fair Advisory Committee. The committee advises the Fair director and county commissioners on fair related topics. The committee also assists in the preparation and running of the Grant County Fair. The position open is one regular member position. The term is three years with a maximum of two terms. There is no compensation for serving on the committee. Plan on parking along the nearby streets or in the overlook parking lots along highway 155, either above the dam, or just below the top. The Coulee Dam All Class Reunion was held in the Lake Roosevelt High School gym on June 21-22. Approximately 200 former classmates, some with their spouses and children, attended the event. This July, up to 35 children, ages 8-15,will spend their afternoons at the Masquers Theater in Soap Lake. The Inland Empire Barrel Racing Association has set a race for June 29 and 30 at the Ridge Riders rodeo grounds in Delano. This is for all ages from peewees to seniors. Groups are based on the participant’s horse’s lifetime earnings from under $100 up to $2000 and the open. Race starts at 11am both days. Practice time runs from 10am to 10:30am. Coulee Dam Police 6/10 - Police received a call from the school where they were trying to unlock a car. An officer told them they didn’t have lockout equipment and they may have to call a company to unlock it for them if they couldn’t do it themselves. 6/11 - The owners of two dogs running at large in the Hillcrest Avenue area of Electric City were able to get the dogs back in the yard before police searched the area. Colleen Leskinen talks June 3 with guests, including kids anxious for cake, at the dedication of her new Colleen's Child Care Center near her home in Nespelem, where she's been providing daycare services for years. Leskinen said the new facility would be dedicated to her late husband Fred Leskinen, who originally set a goal of building the facility instead of housing the daycare in their home.
