Grand Coulee Police 4/23 - Coulee Medical Center staff reported to police that a mental health patient being seen in the emergency room had pushed past a nurse and left the hospital on foot. The Master Gardener Program originated in Washington state in the early 1970s. At the time, Pierce and King County extension agents David Gibby and Bill Scheer were attempting to respond to a renewed and burgeoning interest in gardening. Initially, they thought that gardening articles and radio and TV shows would meet the demand. Their approach was clearly inadequate; extension offices soon became overwhelmed with requests for gardening information. So Gibby and Scheer considered other approaches. The local Cub Scout Pack 24 went to the Chelan Shooting Range on April 13 to take part in a shooting event. Unconfirmed results indicated in the scored BB gun shooting Landon Krohn took first with a score of 100 out of 100. Showaway Hunt scored a close second with a score of 95 out of 100. In the Wrist Rockets (sling shot) event, Alex Greening scored highest for Pack 24 with a score of 36 out of 50. All the boys of Pack 24 did well in all scored events.... Full story

Up to $5,000 is available to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties for general programs, start-up funding, small equipment, and other needs and enhancements. Steven Riehart, of 24-7 Property Maintenance drops a limb from a huge fir tree at the Fercha home at Fir and Civic in Coulee Dam. Reportedly one of the oldest trees in town, it measured about five feet across at its base, but owners were concerned about its health and risks posed in wind storms. Grand Coulee Police 4/1 - An officer checked on a stalled vehicle on SR-155, and found that a man’s vehicle had overheated and he was waiting for it to cool down before moving it. 4/2 - A bartender at Wolf’s Den Bar told police that two men had entered a restroom and written racially offensive words above the toilet and tipped over a shelf. One of the men was big, bald, and had a lot of tattoos on his arms and legs. Grand Coulee Police 3/19 - An Electric City man known to have a suspended license was stopped and later cited for not having an interlock system on his vehicle.
