    Two full-time contractors will assist survivors of fires in Okanogan, Douglas, and Chelan counties and the Colville reservation with funds pledged this week. A group of Washington nonprofits active in fire recovery efforts have committed one year’s funding for two full-time disaster case managers (DCMs) for survivors of this summer’s wildfires.     Grand Coulee Police 11/14 - An Omak driver was stopped when an officer noticed his tail lights were faulty. The man had a suspended license, and the officer found several syringes in the vehicle, which were sent to the Washington State Crime Lab for testing. The vehicle was towed.     The Moomaw Hearing Center is now open at 406 Burdin Boulevard in Grand Coulee. The new firm has been open a couple of weeks and is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Moomaw family has a hearing center in Omak and, in keeping with the family operation, Hanna Moomaw is the business operations manager at Grand Coulee.     Have to admit, the rain we saw in October was really refreshing. Though the rain doesn’t take us out of the drought, it is a start. The home weather station recorded precipitation at 0.85 inches. This is 0.13 inches over the mean for October, which measures in at 0.72 inches. Back in 1947, we received 2.95 inches — the all-time record. In October 1971, we had an episode of snow, a grand total of 1.3 inches. I am sure the rain was welcomed by all. Temperatures are still running on the warm sid... Full story

    Okanogan County 4-H Leader Betty Cleveland, of the Krafty Kids 4-H Club, was honored at the annual Washington State 4-H Leader Forum Recognition Banquet.
