    The final juice extraction event at Shaw's Fruit and Produce in Belvedere on Monday yielded 60 gallons of fresh apple cider. "The way it works, it becomes a community event," noted appreciative employee Carla Tonasket, who took the photo of employees and volunteers around the apple press. The enterprise is for sale and owner Roy Hamilton has said he will not reopen next spring.     Grand Coulee Police 10/2 - Police got a vehicle blocking O’Sullivan Street on its way. The driver explained that he’d gotten in late and didn’t want to disturb anyone and fell asleep. - An employee of Coulee Medical Center who had a no-contact court order with a patient asked police to stand by so a confrontation could be avoided. - Police advised a man to stay off the roadway.     Grand Coulee Police 9/28 - A Grand Coulee driver who was going 15 mph over the speed limit near the overlook area just above Grand Coulee Dam was cited by police.     Rotary Club members and friends gathered Wednesday, Sept. 23, to remember Donna Hamilton, in whose memory the club erected a plaque at the handicapped-accessible fishing pier the club installed at Steamboat Rock State Park. The gathering took place a year and a day after her unexpected death.     A new doctor has been added to the Gillespie Eye Care team. Dr. Galen Schmidt has joined the eye care firm in Grand Coulee after some 30 years in private practice. Schmidt, and his wife, Pam, who is originally from the Omak area, come to the area from Spokane. The doctor is well versed in treatment and management of eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eyes and diabetic retinopathy.     An Electric City woman has been selected as the new head librarian at Grand Coulee. North Central Regional Library officials announced this week that Lisa Moore has been selected after a lengthy process of interviews. NCRL spokesperson Angela Morris said Monday that there was a large number of applicants and that it was a difficult decision because of the quality of the candidates.     Derlyn and Sheila Brown have returned from a mission and will have an opportunity to speak on it this Sunday at the local Coulee Dam Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Browns served their mission at the Cove Fort Visitor Center in Cove Fort, Utah. They left in March of 2014 and returned in August, after serving approximately 18 months.     Grand Coulee Dam Area residents may dispose of household hazardous waste for free on Friday, September 11, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Delano Regional Transfer Station. Only hazardous waste generated by households will be accepted. Hazardous products have labels with words such as warning, danger, caustic, flammable, and poison. These chemicals should be disposed of through hazardous-waste collection opportunities; not in the garbage, down the drain, or on the ground.     Collecting shoes for developing countries will continue through the end of this month, Coulee Medical Center Guild president Clea Pryor said this week. The Guild has been collecting donated shoes since early July, with a goal of getting 100 bags of shoes. They had about 82 bags of shoes as of Tuesday, stored in a room in the basement of Coulee Medical Center's professional building.
