    The Bearded Villains recently held their first chapter flag shoot meeting at Pepper Jack's Bar and Grille. Washington has two chapters, Eastern and Western. In attendance for the gathering were brothers from all over Oregon (the woodsmen), Western Washington (reign side villains), Las Vegas (sick side villains), and Eastern Washington (Originals). She had lived in many places, but for the last 12 years she resided in Electric City with her little brother, Jack Hilson. They had spent their younger years together and later years together.     Former Star owner, editor and publisher Jack Hilson, a man whose political expertise helped to build the local airport, Steamboat Rock State Park and more, has died. After serving in the Navy in World War II, Jack and his wife, Dolores, became involved in the newspaper in 1947, and began buying it from family members in 1958. Hilson served on the Grant County Port District 7 Commission for 10 years and also sat on the state Parks and Recreation Commission. He was born May 14, 1925, to Herman and Ethel Hilson in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. He graduated from Almira High School in 1943. On June 9, 1944, he entered into the U.S. Navy.   • Park fund raiser a success in Electric City

    A community picnic "Pig for a Park" last Saturday raised $2,200 for a new Electric City park, councilwoman Lonna Bussert said Monday. The fundraiser attracted nearly 100 people who took advantage of a Whitelaw BBQ performance with all the food trimmings. Tables were scattered throughout the grassy park-like area behind city hall, and some even ate sitting on the grass.     1 years ago The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken nearly 400 sediment samples at the bottom of Lake Roosevelt from the U.S. border to Grand Coulee Dam. The sampling showed heavy concentrates of slag and toxic minerals, such as arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, Mercury and zinc, and toxic chemicals, in the upper reaches of Lake Roosevelt. EPA said the main source is the Teck Cominco Smelter near Trail, B.C.     People fill the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center Nov. 19 for the Senior Thanksgiving Meal, which was served to about 175 people in the Senior Meal Program's two locations in Grand Coulee and Coulee City, including delivery to those who couldn't get to the site. The Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union donated to the program, covering the cost of 150 meals. And Dean Stucker donated five turkeys, as he has done for years.
