Ellen Moses "SWim Tem Nalqs"

Ellen Moses "SWim Tem Nalqs", 93, of Nespelem, Washington and Revered Elder of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, went on to her Maker Sunday morning June 19th, 2022. Ellen's family was by her side to bid her farewell. Ellen was born January 22, 1929 in Chesaw, Washington to Edward & Mary Harbor-Pierre.

She was a member Catholic Church where she was an active in fundraising for the Altar society. She also attended Washut services at the Nez Perce Longhouse. Ellen worked tirelessly for her fellow tribal members, particularly the youngest, her "Little People" whom she loved. Ellen worked many years at the Nespelem and Grand Coulee Schools, Board Member of the Tribal Housing Authority, appointed as a member of Regional HUD Board representing the people of the Colville Reservation and a Foster Grandparent for as long as her health allowed. Active members of the Cattlemen's Association, in the 1970s Ellen and her Husband, were jointly recognized as "Cattlemen of the Year." She loved the Song "Stardust" her Husband dedicated the song "You are My Sunshine" to Ellen. Ellen's wonderful sense of humor, wit and even her sometimes "sharp" tongue will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Predeceased by her husband Harvey Moses Sr .; parents: Edward & Mary Harbor-Pierre; daughter: Sharon Moses; granddaughter: Mawe We-Ta-Lo; and five brothers; Ellen's proud legacy lives on through her children: Harvey Moses Jr. (Cheryl), Rachel Moses, Katherine Moses and Edward C. "Chuck" Moses; grandchildren: "Mic" Wilder, Ken Wilder, Wat Chum Yush Wilder, Weep-Tes Tsi-muux Tsi muux Wilder (Dar Seymour), Tmth Spusmen Wilder (Hannah Tomilson), Monica Desautel, Erica Moses, Amelia Marchand (Joaquin), Harvey "JC" Moses III, Nathan Moses-Gonzales and  Shane Moses;  Sixteen Great-Grandchildren.    Sadly, following Ellen's passing, her daughter Darlene Wilder (survived by her husband Ian) unexpectedly joined her in death on July 7, 2022.

Ellen's dressing was held at Strate funeral Home in Grand Coulee, Washington on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 with Wake and Washut service that evening at the Nespelem Community Center. Funeral Services began at sunrise on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 with burial at the Little Nespelem Cemetery in Nespelem, Washington.
