Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed peacefully following a long illness on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She is preceded in death by son Larry, and her five siblings.

Dorothy was born on April 3, 1934, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Her parents, James and Christina Compton were tenant farmers on farms around Buhl, Idaho. Her love for animals grew from this experience and she had many special pets in her life. She regularly took her dog "Pee Wee" to the store for ice cream and made sure he got his own cone. Her pets often traveled with her and she traveled back to the farm many times.

While on a Glee Club trip she met her future husband and love of her life, Roger Lucas. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in 1952. It was an unbreakable bond that lasted the rest of their lives.

Although born in Idaho, Dorothy lived primarily in Washington State. She was a hard worker, raising four children. She worked for Frederick and Nelson before opening Parlor To Pantry, a design and gift shop.

Dorothy loved flowers and gardening, but her true love for so many years was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "Hiking up the hill," flooding the patio in the winter so they could slide around are included in their many memories. She canned the best peaches and pears and made the best chocolate cake with "hard icing."

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Roger Lucas, daughter Kathleen Beck (Will), son Paul Lucas (Cindy), son Nathan Lucas (Karen), daughter Kim Billups (Bruce); granddaughter Ashley Landeros (Victor), grandson Travis Irwin, granddaughter Camille Beck (Mark), grandson William Lucas, granddaughter Courtney Ferrario; great-granddaughter Kaylee Landeros, great-grandson Damon Landeros, great-granddaughter Westlyn Landeros, great-granddaughter Ahreum Fabian, great-granddaughter Hanna Ferrario and great-grandson Jackson Ferrario.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to a charity of your choice in Dorothy's name.

We will miss her as she occupied a big space in our family. Mom, fly with the angels.
