Grand Coulee Police

12/24 - Police responded to Burdin Boulevard where a truck was reported being where two men were yelling at each other. Police found the truck, watched it drive a little then stop. They spoke to the driver, who had been drinking, sad that his girlfriend had broken up with him, the report states. He was arrested for driving under the influence, with breath samples showing an alcohol content as high as 0.225, well above the 0.08 limit. A friend of his had been standing nearby where the truck was, and explained that he left the vehicle because he didn’t want his friend driving after drinking. He agreed to take in his friend for the evening.

12/27 - Police, an Electric City employee, a fire chief, and a Bureau of Reclamation security safety division employee responded to an oil spill on Kelso Avenue, ultimately putting “floor dry” and oil-absorbent pads on the spill. The Electric City employee said he would clean it up after it had sat for a couple of days.

- A School Avenue man said police were no longer needed because his ex-girlfrien,, who had refused to leave his residence, eventually did leave.

- Police followed a suspicious vehicle, a Cadillac traveling 10 miles per hour under the speed limit and swerving on SR-155 near the Grand Coulee Dam, to Federal Avenue. Police learned the vehicle had been stolen out of Elmer City. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over near Hill Avenue. The vehicle eventually turned east on SR-174 and began to speed up, crossing into the oncoming lane, and apparently attempting to elude police. Police stopped their pursuit, and contacted Lincoln County officers who found the vehicle the next morning at the Keller Ferry marina where the vehicle had become stuck and abandoned. Information on who stole it was forwarded to Colville Tribal Police, who are handling the case.

12/28 - A man returned to his Palmer Avenue residence to find some fencing had been knocked down and a crawl space accessed. Nothing appeared to be missing.

- Police saw a man running north on SR-155 in the middle of the road near Pole Park. Police eventually got the attention of the man who spoke to police while continuing to jog in place. Police told him not to run in the road, and the man said “will do,” before continuing to jog, now on the sidewalk. Police have received multiple complaints about the man running in the middle of the road, and if he is caught doing it again he may face a disorderly conduct charge.

- Police responded to the Mexican food restaurant on SR-174 in response to an alarm. They didn’t see anything amiss there, and no “human footprints” in the snow.

12/29 - Police responded to a report of a man screaming on Kelso Avenue. Police saw a man, seemingly intoxicated, staggering down Coulee Boulevard. When police asked if he was OK, he began “barking like a rabid dog.” The man continued walking. He eventually fell down, then staggered in the street. Police eventually called an ambulance to take him to the hospital as police followed.

1/1/2022 - A woman had driven her vehicle into a guardrail at Pole Park before ending up in a snow embankment. She admitted to having done some drinking. She was eventually charged with driving under the influence, her breath samples showing an alcohol content as high as 0.196, over twice the 0.08 limit.

- A vehicle was parked without explanation in a Weil Place woman’s yard. Police said that since the unoccupied vehicle was on private property she would need to contact a tow service herself to have it removed.

1/2 - After a report of suspicious activity there, police checked on a man loading stuff out of a storage unit on Grand Coulee Avenue. He showed that he was the rightful renter.

- A woman reported a hit-and-run that occured while parked at the bar in Electric City, with about $2,500 of damage caused to a 2016 Chevrolet Impala.

12/26 - Police went to Spruce Street around midnight where a four-wheeler was reportedly being unloaded, thought suspicious because of the time of night. It turned out it was a company laying salt in the parking lot of a church for Sunday.

12/27 - Police responded to a suspicious vehicle report on Camas Street and spoke to people who said they were looking for a lost cell phone.

12/28 - A woman reported being given a fake $100 bill from a man who said that he got it from the credit union. Police noted the bill looked and felt fake, and took it to mail to the Secret Service. 

- A River Drive alarm was set off by a homeowner’s cat.

12/30 - Two semi-trucks in a row became stuck near the bridge, and then were able to drive off after putting chains on.

12/31 - A loose dog on Fir Street chased a woman’s daughter. She was able to scare the dog back into the yard. The case was forwarded to the tribal police animal control department.

- An officer requested the Department of Transportation sand the roadway in the area of Roosevelt Way and Columbia Avenue (west end of the bridge) after his patrol car slid while turning at what he believed to be a reasonable speed for the icy conditions.

1/2 - Police used a portable air compressor to fill a tire that went flat in the school parking lot. Police didn’t observe any signs of vandalism.
