Propaganda left on teachers' desks upsets school

A stapled packet of religious “propaganda” left in teachers’ rooms over the weekend has stirred security and other concerns at Lake Roosevelt Elementary.

Grand Coulee Dam School District Superintendent Paul Turner emailed a letter out to the district Tuesday to say the incident is being investigated and lamenting that the issue had hit social media, “fueling the fire.”

Just over 11 pages of black and white copies feature the writings of Kim Clement in “prophetic songs,” Turner said.

Clement’s prophesies are for sale in several books on Amazon.com, and a “House of Destiny” website offers, “Kim Clement Prophecies from 2013 & 2015 - Blackouts, World Wars and More! It’s time to look at these prophecies again!” In videos of him on stage at a keyboard singing, his prophecies touch on international and domestic subjects in politics.

The packet left on desks is black and white, most of it a printout of a website called The Elijah List, which includes advertisements for Clement videos and books.

“It’s … not condoned at the school by any means,” Turner said Tuesday.

He said it seemed unusual that cameras in the school were not working. He said the material apparently had been left in rooms that were unlocked.

“Please be reassured that we are dealing with this situation,” Turner said in his letter. “Current protocols are in place to protect the safety of all staff and students. We will resolve this incident, but in the meantime please be reassured that school is safe. School will continue with in-person instruction.”

The whole incident is “just something that didn’t need to be done” in what he said in his letter are “some very unsettling times in our nation.”
