Janice Bonamici Erickson, 66, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, peacefully with loved ones by her side in Spokane, Washington.

Jan was born January 11, 1954, to Anthony and Geneva Bonamici in Spokane, Washington where she grew up and went to school.

She attended Eastern Washington University for both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education. Beginning her teaching career in 1976, Jan taught for over 40 years, primarily in the Grand Coulee Dam School District. As a life-long learner and teacher, she shared her love of education with everyone from sing-a-long to countries around the world to swimming lessons.

On July 15, 1992, Jan married the love of her life, Keith Erickson, on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Jan's faith was important to her and in recent years, she belonged to St. Henry's Catholic Church in Grand Coulee, Washington.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; daughter, Carrie Derr (Aaron); grandchildren: Zachary, Aidan, and Isaijah; sister, Deanne Loosmore (Richard, Jr.); many nieces and nephews and other family members.

Jan never wanted to see anyone go hungry and always wanted to help those in need. She instantly made you feel as though you were longtime friends.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Henry's on February 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Fond memories may be shared with the family at www.stratefuneralhome.com.
