Washington State Climatologist Nick Bond will talk about the impacts that warming oceans and environmental degradation have on dwindling Northwest salmon populations at 3 p.m., at the Grand Coulee Public Library on Wednesday, February 26.

In his talk "Are Salmon Doomed? Hatching a Plan to Save a Northwest Icon", Bond will explore the past, present and possible future conditions for salmon. He will share lessons on how local communities have accomplished important work to support salmon runs, but also take a hard look at the realities of climate change.

The program is part of the Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau. Bond is the Washington State Climatologist, which serves as an expert source of climate and weather information for state agencies. He has a PhD in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington and is a principal research scientist with the Joint Institute for the Study of Atmosphere and Ocean with the College of the Environment.
