The Raider wrestling postseason started in Tonasket at the district tournament last Saturday where all the Raiders who wrestled qualified for the regional tournament this Saturday in Oroville.

“Districts went fairly well,” Head Coach Billy Monroe said. “We had three district champions in Colton Jackson, Trevon Johnson and Joseph Tynan. We got second as a team behind Tonasket. I hope to continue with that and finish (in the) top three as a team at regionals and then again at state.”

Jackson was the champion of the 106 weight bracket; Johnson was the champ at 220, and Tynan was the lone 285 weight class wrestler, champion of the bracket by default.

The other Raider wrestlers placed as well including Myka Boyd, who took second at 195; Sergio Galacia, who took second at 182; Tyler Palmer, who took third at 160; Kaiden Palmer, who took third at 152; Dusty Rose, who took third at 145; Landon Krohn, who took third at 138; Teyton Flores, who took third at 120; JJ Picard, who took fifth at 132; and Julien Lopez, who took fifth at 113.

As a team, the Raiders placed second out of six teams with 184 team points. Tonasket won the event with 382.5 points.

The regional tournament in Oroville Saturday, Feb. 15, starts at 10 a.m.

“It is going to be difficult, but I think our kids will step up and wrestle tough these next two weekends,” Monroe said.
