An example of the kind of surprising features Bjornstad shows with the help of drone videography.

Attention geology nerds! There's some cool stuff happening regarding local geology including a podcast available now and a presentation coming in March.

Geologist Bruce Bjornstad will be coming to the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center auditorium on March 28 to show some of his drone footage from the area from the past few years.

Similar videos on Youtube show birds-eye views of places in the Grand Coulee region, including the Dry Falls, the Great Blade, the Potholes area, and much more, as well as other footage throughout the state.

Bjornstad authored a book titled "On The Trail of the Ice Age Floods, A geological field guide to the Mid-Columbia Basin," and co authored a sequel with Eugene Kiver.

Bjornstad's visit will be sponsored by the Grand Coulee Dam Rotary Club, which also sponsored another Washington-based geologist, Nick Zentner, who spoke here last year.

Zentner is a professor on the topic at Central Washington University and host of show "Nick on the Rocks," which has aired on PBS stations and is available to watch on Youtube, has a podcast appropriately titled "The Nick Zentner Geology Podcast" available on the Apple podcast app, iTunes and Spotify.

Zentner said that the episode on The Ice Age Floods is the most relevant to the Grand Coulee area.

The pair of geologists actually know each other, and a video of Zenter interviewing Bjornstad in 2007 is available to see online at https://vimeo.com/5118980
