The Lake Roosevelt Raiders defeated White Swan by 15 points Friday, a solid victory but still the closest game the dominant Raiders have had all season.

In White Swan, 183 miles away, the Raiders defeated the Cougars 67-52.

“It was a hard-fought game throughout,” Head Coach Jeremy Crollard said. “White Swan is not an easy place to play, but the boys did a great job dealing with adversity and some tough calls.”

Hunter Whitelaw led the Raiders with 19 points and 15 rebounds, with help from Soarin’ Marchand who scored 16.

“CJ Saxon, Cam St. Pierre, and Soarin’ Marchand played great defense throughout the game and kept their top scorers in check,” Crollard said.

The 15-point victory margin marked the Raiders’ closest game this season, having so far defeated Manson by 32 points, Soap Lake by 56, Oroville by 29, Tonasket by 41, and Warden by 46.

Lake Roosevelt is near the top of the Central Washington 2B League with a 4-0 league win-loss record, 6-0 overall. They are neck and neck with the Brewster Bears who are 5-0, 8-1.

The Raiders were scheduled to play Brewster on Tuesday, results of which will be published in next week’s Star.

The Raiders are scheduled to host Liberty Bell at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, in Coulee Dam. Then on Saturday, the Raiders are scheduled to play on the road against Waterville-Mansfield, also at 7:30 p.m.
